Sensitive Skin Soap

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

This recipe was created just for me by Vi many years ago now, as a newbie I had several batches of cold process soap under my belt… However, a little by little, I noticed my skin was very sensitive and I didn’t know what to make of it, really. I thought perhaps I was making newbie errors, too much lye, maybe I needed to let it cure more etc… I questioned a lot of things.

One night I was in a soap chat room, Vi was there so I asked if she knew what could have caused my sensitive skin. She asked me what are the ingredients in my batches… After analyzing all the different oils, she said… ah ha, she too used to experience that. The culprit.. COCONUT OIL, she helped me create this perfectly balanced recipe for my sensitive skin!

I can’t thank Vi enough, this is perfect not only for sensitive skin but also for winter season when you want a less drying soap. It is with great pleasure for me to share this with you!

Ingredients:

  • 5 oz. Castor Oil
  • 5 oz. Cocoa Butter
  • 16 oz. Olive Oil
  • 16 oz. Palm Kernel Flakes
  • 10 oz. Soybean Oil
  • 48 oz. Lard

Run it through a lye calculator, and follow the basic instructions on how-to make cold process soap.

Enjoy!
